New Release – Alex by Sawyer Bennett

10341485_715663561843423_8738898879214595147_n USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett scores big-time with the first novel in a sexy new series hot enough to melt the ice.

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

Alex (Cold Fury Hockey, #1)Alex by Sawyer Bennett

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

i think sawyer bennett is my long lost soulmate…she created my perfect book boyfriend…black hair, blue eyes, on a hockey player that’s sweet and sour…

alex has issues…he is cold and angry because the way his father treated him as a child. he has gone through the last 6-8 years of his life as a robot and an a$$hole. being the hockey idol that he is, image is everything and his team wants him to improve his by being a spokesperson for an outreach program. queue tough as nails outreach counselor…

sutton suffered the same abuse as a child as alex and she is empathetic to his plight. and she doesn’t take any sh!t from him which makes him pause for a moment. their initial meeting was fantastic!

i absolutely adored sutton’s family – especially glenn!

this is my first sawyer bennett book and i was very impressed. she is either a hockey fan (like me) or her research was really in depth. all her technical references to hockey were spot on (which is a big plus for me). while you do have your normal ‘blow up’ around the 80% mark it wasn’t too angsty – i’m guessing primarily because the subject matter alone is pretty heavy.

and garrett! oh how i cannot wait for his book…it should be amazing!
