Blurb(s):

A serial killer is preying upon gay men in Los Angeles. Detective Cassidy Ryan of the LAPD is out to stop the monster before more mutilated corpses turn up. The victims have one thing in common and it leads back to an infamous online club called DOMZ.com. The website owner, Zachary Teak, is stunningly gorgeous and infuriatingly uncooperative. Having spent years in vice, investigating crimes fueled by pornography, Cassidy hates the Dom on sight.

Zack Teak is a wealthy man and a popular Dom with a long waiting list of subs who beg to lick his boots. The moment he meets the detective, a former Navy SEAL, he is determined to help the handsome, blond hunk explore his own submissive nature but Cassidy is having none of it.

As Cassidy closes in on the killer, he succumbs to Teak’s charms, finding that it’s okay to give up control and let Zack take charge. Join the men as they flush out a killer while trying not to become victims themselves.

Excerpt:

Cassidy finally relented, looking side to side to assure that he was alone as he reached down, unzipping his slacks, and pulling out his hard cock. He looked down, noting that he was swollen and red, the circumcised head leaking precome down the length of his shaft as he began to stroke it.

“Does it turn you on, Detective? I’d love to do a scene with you, Detective.” Zachary Teak’s sexy voice played in his head as his hand sped faster, pumping him closer and closer to the orgasm which was just out of his reach. Cassidy opened his mouth, panting. He suddenly imagined himself laid over that vault-like device, tied down while Teak fucked him, harder and harder, holding him in the middle of his back with one hand and pulling on his cock with the other. He pictured Teak’s orgasm roaring over him, feeling the man’s dick throb in his well-abused ass, his own cock spilling on the floor beneath them at the same time.

With a gasp, Cassidy came, shooting so high, that he hit the steering wheel. Cassidy milked his orgasm, looking down at the mess he was making in the car, praying that he didn’t get any of his spunk on his suit pants.

Christina’s Review:

Silver Ties (Silver, #3)Silver Ties by Patricia Logan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

****Audiobook Review****

i absolutely love this narrator (and that’s high praise from me). his various pitches, accents and inflections made listening to the multitude of characters easier to follow and made listening to the story much more interesting. i typically do not like audiobooks partially because i’m very ‘nit picky’ when it comes to the narration. i definitely would recommend this listening to any book mr. brooke narrates.

as for the story, i’m not a huge fan of bdsm so this possibly could have been a 5 star read for someone who does like it. when we first meet cassidy he appears to have a dominant personality which zeke finds to be a personal challenge. zeke thinks under cassidy’s tough facade he really wants to be submissive. their chemistry is explosive right from the beginning as are their personality clashes. because this story focuses primarily on the D/s piece of the story, it is easy to overlook any technical issues a reader might have with the murder investigation.

overall this is definitely a book i would recommend to fans of the bdsm world.

Author Guest Post (1)

We are getting really into audiobooks on our blog and we really want to start pushing them.  Can you tell us what the process was like for getting a book moved to audio?  Since this was your first, will you do it again?  Any advice for anyone trying it for the first time?

It was relatively simple but time consuming. Amazon has a platform called ACX on ACX.com. Basically, it is a site with producers (actors), and authors. The producers put up samples of their voices and the authors put up their books for auditions. If a book doesn’t get any auditions, then an author can offer a contract to a particular producer whose voice they like. That is the most difficult process… finding a good producer who likes your book enough to want to produce it on your terms. The production process is lengthy. The producer has to fit the production into their schedule because it takes approximately 6 hours of production time for one hour of audio book and one hour of audio book equates to 9300 words. This means it will take anywhere from 3-8 weeks to produce one book once you’ve entered into a contract with the producer so be patient.

Producers get paid in one of two ways. 1. They either split royalties with the author/rights holder or 2. They get paid an hourly production fee for their services. The second option is out of reach for many authors and in my opinion, short-sighted for most producers. If the audio book is a huge hit and sells thousands of copies, the producer has screwed himself out of those royalties if he’s chosen the second option. But, if it sells nothing, he’s out the time and energy spent producing the book. For him it’s a roll of the dice and so finding a producer who is happy with that option, is always challenging.

My advice to authors when looking for producers is: 1. Make offers to producers. Don’t wait for auditions to come rolling in. Unless you have written a book at the top of the NY Times bestseller chart, you aren’t going to find anyone interested in producing your book unless you ask. You may have to ask several producers. In the case of “Silver Ties” I got someone instantly but I have other books that I’ve had to make several offers on and still haven’t found anyone to do them. 2. Be persistent and follow through. There is a producer for everyone. Keep at it. You’ll find a match. 3. Try to get the producer for book one of a series to commit to doing the rest of the series if there are more books. The worst thing for a listener (in my opinion) is to hear inconsistent voices for the same characters. Sometimes it can’t be helped but authors should be conscientious about that.

Most producers are looking for bestselling books or books at the top of the charts. That makes it difficult for authors to produce older titles, but that said, there is a producer for every book somewhere. In my case, I have a new producer for some very old books who wanted some books to put on his resume. That was a win/win for both of us. In the case of “Silver Ties”, I found an awesome voice/producer who’s been described by one of my listeners as having a voice like liquid sex. I couldn’t ask for more than that. There are more voices than the main characters and when it’s all said and done, the producer has to be able to do several different and distinct accents/voices for one book. Finding an actor/producer like that is a challenge but when it comes together, it’s perfect. In the case of Silver Ties, it was perfect. I have a lot of books and currently I have one finished and 5 others in production. If I can, they will all go to audio book but that’s an ongoing process.
