Harper Connelly never expected to find herself outside of a tattoo parlor at one in the morning, summoning the nerve to take back her past. She’s determined to forget her old life and is looking for an artist who can tattoo over the scars on her back.
Trent Andrews, local legend and owner of the Second Circle tattoo studio, has his own reasons for specializing in inking over scars. And in spite of her mysterious past and the difficult road ahead, he quickly realizes that Harper is funny, smart, and-under her ridiculously oversized clothing and SPF 100 sunscreen-totally hot. He’s happy to take on the challenge of designing a meaningful and deadly full-back tattoo for her.
But when cryptic messages start appearing on Harper’s phone, strange deliveries arrive at her door, and Second Circle is vandalized, Harper is convinced that her ex-boyfriend has tracked her down, and worse, that he knows about Trent. Running was the only thing that saved her last time, but now that she’s started to put down roots in Miami, she’ll have to decide if she can finally fight back instead.
The Strongest Steel by Scarlett Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
this is a surprisingly really great start to what should be a really great series and just what i needed!
what trent does to help scar victims is such an amazing thing. he takes something so hurtful and turns it into something beautiful. he is an absolute sweetheart of a man. i love that he is doing what he wants in life and making something of himself. he is a great friend and employer…just an all around great guy. his knowledge and appreciation of dante makes him even hotter!
the tragedy that struck harper is gut-wrenching at best, after which she completely shuts down. she meets trent to get advice on covering her scars and as they get to know each other, we get to see the real harper that she buried for so long. she is unbelievably strong and has a really great personality when she lets it free. trent is her perfect match. he helps her get past not only the physical but also the emotional scars of her tragedy.
i am so excited to see that we will be getting books from all the characters because they were all just as good as these 2. the writing was good and the story unique to me which really held my interest.
