Scene: Cozy fireside. Figure in the chair now has a lap blanket and a crystal decanter of port the size of a small beagle.

Voiceover: Welcome back to Letters to Shax. Your host, Captain Shax Goldner.

Shax: Hello again and pardon me if I’m slightly drun—er, under the weather. The last mention of certain amphibians left me a bit woozy. Our next letter is from Ms. Sadie in Kent. Lovely seaside views. I do miss parts of Earth sometimes. London. Paris. Shanghai… Sorry. Rambling. Ms. Sadie writes, “Dear Shax, Rayne would like to know when you and the crew are heading back to earth, circa 20th century? I think a certain vampire rock star wants to party with the pretty demon. London is already on High Alert.”

(taps letter on thigh) Rayne…20^th century…Rayne Wilde? From Whipsnade? Oh, I remember him. Ver and I used to go see them. Ness? Have we figured out that time travel issue yet?

Ness (off screen): No, was I supposed to be?

Shax: Never mind, cupcake, maybe I’ll just call that man with the blue box. Perhaps I could acquire the blue box…I’ll have to think about that. Ah, this letter is from Toni in Australia. Always liked Australia, too. All sorts of wonderful, deadly beasties. Toni writes, “Dear Shax,
Have you managed to talk Verin and Ness into letting you get some floating cows for yourself yet? If not you should really get on that. Even if they say no, I’m sure someone of your superior skills and intellect would be able to hide them from everyone.
Love always
Toni”

(wipes at eyes) How sweet! I think I like Toni. And, no, I haven’t had a spare moment to hunt down a cow for myself yet. A demon captain’s work is never done. But thank you for asking. It’s nice to know someone out there cares. I think we have time for one more. This one’s from an angel…oh, pardon me, not an angel but from Angel. She writes, “Get out of my head for a few weeks, you crazy, misbegotten little miscreant. How am I supposed to finish anything else when you take up so much room?”

(clears throat, tosses letter on the fire) Clearly deranged. We’ll have make sure she’s in the security protocols as a hostile entity. Thank you and good night!
