YM‘s review of Stay
POV: 3rd personI enjoyed this one, it was a little different from what I typically read, but the story was engaging. I actually sought the author out after reading Three Simple Rules, under her other pen name of Nikki Sloan.
The story is high energy and high suspense. There were a couple of parts that were super cheesy, but it didn’t bother me too much.
I really liked all the characters. Jason the US Marshall was just a good ol boy and you can’t help but cheer for him. Yay good guys. Laurel is a principal dancer in a ballet company that just happens to witness something that will alter her life.
The story worked but lacked that edginess or maybe sexiness that Three Simple Rules had, which kept me turning the pages well into the next day. However, it was a very enjoyable read and I will def continue on to book 2.
I recommend this book to anyone needed a little break from romance. The romantic elements are all there but the suspense and mystery add an extra dimension that I think most reader would appreciate it.
Billionaire CEO Shawn Dunn has plenty of sex, power, and money. A woman turning down his advances? Unfathomable. Yet that’s what she does, again and again.
Kara Hayward is supposed to be off limits. Her sister is hiding from the dangerous assassin she escaped from, and it’s best for everyone if Shawn keeps his distance. Certainly as far as Kara is concerned. Shawn’s only after one thing and then he’ll walk away, just like her ex-husband.
But Shawn has larger desires and he’s used to getting what he wants. He doesn’t care if being together is dangerous. He doesn’t believe that threat to him, or his empire, is real. Right up to the night he has everything taken away.
This is the second book in a stand-alone series; the story is complete with no cliffhanger ending.
YM‘s review of Keep
POV- alternating between main character/ 3rd person
I will say, I was curious about how the author would take this book and move the story forward. It did not disappoint!
This book should not be read as a standalone, since it continues the story from the previous book in the series.
Keep is mainly about Kara, Laurel’s sister and Shawn, Jason’s brother. Both characters are formidable and headstrong. The way they were introduced and developed was very well done and allowed for both characters to have significant depth to them.
Honestly, I felt the story line was a bit stronger than the previous book. I found myself lost in the story and holding my breath, at several points as I was reading. The suspense was perfect and the angst between the the different characters was on point.
I am diving right in to Surrender, book 3.
Highly recommend this series if you need a little variety from the monotony that sometimes creeps into romance.
The most dangerous thing on Captain Olivia Wallace’s plane is her Italian employer’s new bodyguard. Nathan is just like all the other predators in the deep bush of South Africa: he’s powerfully intense, strikingly gorgeous, and completely lethal.
But Nathan isn’t who he pretends to be and she’s drawn to the decent man she sees inside, the one he claims doesn’t exist. Even as he risks everything he has to save her.
His actions put them on a collision-course with uncontrolled passion, but also dangerous violence, and its impact threatens to destroy so much more than just their lives.
This book contains mature content. It is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger ending.

She has been a screenwriter for more than fifteen years, with rather mild success, and grew tired of her stories only reaching a handful of readers. The decision was made to try fiction in early 2013 and once she figured out how to write internal dialogue again, the prose came fast and furious. She most enjoys writing smexy (smart-sexy) books featuring a lovable SOB.
Karyn is a Chicago native who lives in Kentucky with her epic husband and two adorable sons. She also writes dirty romantic books as Nikki Sloane.
