It’s a stand alone, but Roman Cavenaugh’s character first appeared in his brother Jude’s story in The Walls Duet series.

Roman’s a pretty miserable, unlikable guy. The blurb does a good job of setting the stage. With Roman, it’s important to note he is completely jaded and his former free spirit is trapped under the weight of family obligations. He drinks and womanizes. He’s a jerk. A big jerk. With size thirteen feet. Just saying….

Cara, she followed her long-term boyfriend to NYC and quickly found she prefers Nebraska. But, she’s not a quitter, she sticks to her plan to be with Tyler. She’s sweet but tough. Landing the job as Roman’s assistant, she definitely feels the chill. He’s ice cold, until she works her way under his skin. She shows him kindness and she’s tempted when he shows her his softer side, but no one cheats.

Ok. I’m sucker for that guy who treats everyone like crap but is sweet to that one girl he falls for. Roman is that guy, once he realizes he wants Cara, he’s locked and loaded, laser-focused. He romances her. The subway date was awesome! No spoilers! He manipulates and schemes. He cheats (not on her) and lies. He does it to help his story along, his happy ending, but it’s still shocking.

Add some suspense, a villain-ish person and some truths about Roman’s family, and you got a lot going on.

Did I enjoy it? Oh yes, Roman was hot and Cara was the perfect girl to tempt him. They both had an awakening, reevaluating what they wanted from life. Glad he tried his luck as “a good guy.”

The writing was tight, I didn’t skim any pages. No wasting time on describing everything to me, the dialogue and the details took care of it all. I got it. I felt it.
