Synopsis:

Every girl has had a broken heart.

Every girl knows love hurts.

Every girl has a story.

This is mine…

My name is Maggie May and I met him under a haze of purple lights. As cliché as it sounds he was tall, dark, and handsome as hell, and I had fireworks in my eyes…literally.

It was New Year’s Eve and beneath the magic of all that glitters and shines, I fell for him and his wicked ways. The way he moved, the way he touched me, the way he brought me to orgasm over and over.

You should know that I don’t believe in love. Fairytales and happily-ever-afters are never anything I’ve dreamed of…until him.

Something changed the moment our eyes met. It wasn’t insta-lust or insta-love, it was simply him and me, and the dance floor at our feet.

The problem is our story ended three days after it started.

But now he’s back.

And he says he’s sorry.

Can I believe him?

Do I want to believe him?

He calls me his bedwrecker…but what if he wrecks me?

YM‘s review
3 of 5 Stars

Second book in this new series by Kim Karr.

Fifteen-
‘Cause when you’re fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You’re gonna believe them
And when you’re fifteen
Don’t forget to look before you fall
I’ve found time can heal most anything
And you just might find who you’re supposed to be
I didn’t know who I was supposed to be at fifteen

or perhaps 22

It seems like one of those nights,
This place is too crowded.
Too many cool kids, uh uh, uh uh (who’s Taylor Swift anyway, ew?)
It seems like one of those nights,
We ditch the whole scene and end up dreaming
Instead of sleeping.

Yeah,
We’re happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way
It’s miserable and magical.
Oh, yeah
Tonight’s the night when we forget about the heartbreaks
It’s time

Why the Taylor Swift lyrics? Because, truthfully, that was the best part of the book in my opinion. The book begins with a physical comparison between taylor Swift and the main character Maggie Mae. However, the book then continues describing how both Maggie Mae and Taylor Swift seem to be in love with being in love, but their luck always runs out/turns into Bad Blood.(I am gonna say the Kendrick Lamar version not the one only featuring Taylor Swift. Each chapter of the book is also the title of a Taylor Swift song. (Which, I found absolutely adorbs, as I am a total Swiftie)

Truthfully, I felt the book flirted with cheesiness. The characters vacillated between maturity and complete immaturity, thus the 15/22 reference above. Problem, I like the characters, they just felt they were going out of their way to act immature. sigh……..

The story started about strong and I was invested enough in the characters that I pushed through.
I am curious to see how the characters mature a bit throughout the duration of the series. So, yes, I would read the next book.

I enjoyed the characters. I truly enjoyed the uniqueness that Keen showed in the beginning of the book. Like his unusual name, he was interesting. The best part of him though was his inner struggle when he is faced with a moral crossroad. Even the outcome of his dealing with his decision, had stronger substance than he did the rest of the story.

That being said, loved the trip down Swift memory lane.

Kim is a daydreamer. So much so that if daydreaming could be a hobby it would be her favorite. It’s how her stories are born and how they take root. An imagination that runs wild is something to be thankful for, and she is very thankful. 🙂

She grew up in New York and now lives in Florida with her husband and four kids. She’s always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, she wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. She went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise her family. Kim currently works part-time with her husband and with the rest of her time embraces one of her biggest passions–writing.

Kim wears a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of her family. However, she always finds time to read.

She likes to believe in soul mates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. She loves to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
