Blurb
Two strangers
in Paris …
One passionate,
earth-shattering kiss.
He was the
artist upstairs
with the
tantalizing smile and laughing eyes.
He was the
devil inviting me to sin,
seducing me to
dance in the bright moonlight.
He was desire
and need.
When he touched
me, my body sang–
my soul came
alive.
But I belonged
to another man,
and he didn’t
want to let me go.

Love Me in the Dark

I’m not a fan of cheating or triangles. I read this book because love is not always safe and perfect. And, Mia Asher writes twisty, temptation so well.

Valentina is dealing with the breakdown of her marriage to William, a man she fashioned her life around. She throws her pride away time and again to keep her marriage together. I could not identify with that but this is her story not mine. It’s terrifying to lose all you have and start over. The lie her marriage has become is safer to her than a new beginning. She’s scared to face her doubts and who she would be without William.

Sebastien is dealing with heartbreak. He lost the love of his life tragically. He deals with this loss, eases his pain, with sex. He falls for Valentina but also gives her the space she needs to decide. Him or her husband. When she takes this space, the story goes off track a bit for me.

Ultimately, this is their love story. She ends up in Paris without her husband, after he had promised her a new beginning. She instead finds Sebastien. Full of angst and feels, you get lost in their heartbreak and in the romance.

Who will she give her future to? The man who claimed her so many years ago or the man offering her a completely different, unknown future.

I liked the first half of this book much better than the last. The lies revealed made the story less real to me, there were too many layers. Her husband became a caricature that represented all the ways a husband can betray you. And Sabastien was the opposite, he was almost too good. Valentina’s choices in the second half gave the impression of weakness. But, she was faced with some really hard truths. She’s human, I cut her some slack. Life is not a fairytale.

Overall, 4 stars.

Author Bio
I’m a writer, a hopeless romantic, a wanderer, a dreamer, a cynic, and a believer. And, I might be a bit crazy – but who isn’t?I believe in happy endings however I know that not everyone is lucky enough to get one, but such is life. I think fine lines exist to be pushed and possibly crossed.

Love,

M.
