Carter and Izzy. She moves to a small town and attracts the attention of an Alpha wolf. I love the scene when they first see each other, in the grocery story. I never get tired of the word “mine.”
Regarding the storyline, I never fully understood what she was running from, why she wanted peace and quiet. Carter did not give her that, he was a storm, an invasion, from the moment he met her. A lot happens in this book but to list it out would give too much away.
Carter tricked her, many times, to get close to her. Did it make sense for the story? Yes. He’s an Alpha driven by primal needs and flat out, he gets what he wants. Did she give in too quickly? Yes, but the story is short, not a lot of time for a profound romance with so much action and change happening.
There is not a lot of character development, no deep themes or severe angst. It is, however, not poorly written or super hokey. It’s a nice summer read, full of spicy bits. For the most part, satisfying. I like this author’s PNR turn, it’s a nice change up from her bikers (who I love).
