Dark Alpha’s Night is a brand new paranormal romance in the Reapers series featuring a brotherhood of elite assassins from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.
There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…
To some Fae, I am their worst nightmare. For I do Death’s bidding. But for all our strength and skill, a powerful enemy has risen up. Finding Ettie could change everything. The Half-Fae is our one chance. She’s sharp and strong and fierce. She steals my breath every time I’m near her. And looking into her eyes is like a bolt of lightning right through me. She’s what I’ve been waiting for my long, dark existence. But for us to be together, we must first stay alive…
4 of 5 Stars
This is a series interconnected with another Donna Grant series, the Dragon Kings. It does not have to be read in order but it will make a lot more sense if you do.
In book 5, the Reapers are still working to save Death (a person) and kill the bad guy, Bran, a former Reaper. As the power base shifts and Bran becomes more powerful, the Reapers find another half-fae ally descendent of Bran, Ettie. She’s been training all her life to fight something, but it’s not clear immediately what her role or power is. We do know from the way the overarching story has progressed from other books in the series that Bran’s descendants can kill him, but Death and the Reapers cannot.
Daire, a Reaper, is immediate drawn to her. While others see her sisters as more beautiful, he only sees her. There story is sweet and sexy with touches of magic.
The story is on the short side, but there is plenty of action, suspense, and spicy times. All is not resolved in this book so there will be more stories. I can’t wait for Cael, the leader of the Reapers, and Death’s story. I’m hoping we get it….
