You mentioned on your blog that your ‘favorite side of the equation’ is m/m romance with a side of spice. Why? What makes m/m better for you than m/f? Do you see yourself ever switching to just strictly m/m books?
I truly enjoy M/M, both writing and reading. There’s just something about two strong male characters, sometimes going against the odds to be together, that moves me. I find too many heroines in M/F books to either be too wimpy or too over the top hard. When a female lead lets the guy she’s with walk all over her, even though it’s obvious what’s going on and she just keeps ignoring the noticeable, when it is not a story about abuse, it drives me nutty. Of course, just as bad, are the heroines who are supposedly strong and 21st century, and yet they simply can’t see the forest for the trees. They continue to slap off the helping hand of the hero and sometimes completely immaculate him – which I hate. Some people like that kind of book. I don’t. I enjoy reading (and writing) books with strong male leads who make mistakes sometimes because they’re human. (Well, except for when they aren’t human. I like strong male vampires and aliens who make mistakes, too. *wink*)
I don’t see myself ever switching strictly to M/M mainly because I do also enjoy writing the kind of m/f I like to read, of which there isn’t as much out there I will admit. This year I am focused on M/M. I will have at least 3 M/M books coming out this year and so far only one M/F.
I write in as many genres as I read, so as long as I enjoy reading a genre, I will probably write in it. I am vastly excited about the first book in a series that is M/M action/adventure/suspense that will come out in the fall. I’d give you more details, but until that contract is signed… can’t say a word. *grins*
