Cooper’s brows lifted skyward. “Sleeping with me? What, do you think I’m easy?” Without a doubt, this lady was a firecracker. He found her feisty nature and lack of coyness intriguing and completely opposite from most of the women he met. Earlier, when he’d seen her sitting by herself eating breakfast with the sunlight shimmering off her silky, midnight hair, he’d stopped dead in his tracks. After speaking with Xavier and learning she was on a solo trip, Cooper did an about-face and introduced himself.
“Hmmm. That thought did cross my mind.” Her exotic eyes, the ends pointing slightly upward like a cat, lowered to his chest.
He swore he could feel the heat from her gaze. He shook his head, fighting against the grin threatening to surface. “Hey.” He pointed at his face. “My eyes are up here.”
A hint of pinkness appeared on the ivory skin along her high cheekbones. On closer inspection he noted the lightest spattering of freckles on the bridge of her nose.
“If you don’t want me to look, then stop showing off your chest…wait that sounded wrong.” A crease marred her brow. “How did I turn into the boy in this conversation?”
She looked adorable all flustered with her face scrunched up. If his partially unbuttoned shirt caused her to be so animated, so be it. Not that he was trying to be sexy, mind you, but it was humid as hell and he required a little ventilation. “And what’s your name, if you don’t mind me asking? I’d like to know what to call the temptress who considers me eye candy.”

didn’t realize this is book 2…definitely can be read as a stand alone. this is a romantic-ish suspense book with a really great suspense story and very little romance. both characters were strong and likeable both with unique careers adding to the appeal of the story. there was so much packed into the first 85% of the book that the last 15% seemed a bit rushed but it doesn’t detract from the story too much.
i will definitely be going back to read book 1 and look forward to the next story – i’m hoping it’s rae’s story since there was so much hinted at being hidden by her.
