Dr. Conlan treated me to a rare fond smile, almost motherly in its warmth. “I’m pleased to see you happier than you have been.”

I grinned back, but then my brow furrowed. “Does this make me gay?”

“Does that matter?”

“I don’t know. Should it?”

“I’ll never understand the fascination with labeling things that our society seems to have. To me, sexuality is as intangible as the universe. There’s no way to truly know what’s out there, and how it all relates to everything else.

“As humans, we seek to know, to understand, and somehow we feel that putting things in boxes and labeling helps us do that. But some things are fluid, changing and developing with the tide of the evolution of life. Do me a favor, Rory. Don’t put yourself in a box.”

I was dumbfounded, stunned speechless. I knew I’d remember Dr. Conlan’s words for the rest of my life, and I would try to stay as true to them as I could. “I won’t,” I whispered.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

this series is full of freaking fantastic characters, but i think these 2 might be my favorite of them all. i’ve been (not so patiently) waiting for this book. and i was really nervous about things based on not only the foreshadowing but how a couple of the men in this series felt about rory in the previous stories…i was just waiting for more angst then i could handle.

we get to the root of rory’s issues that are hinted at in book 2. his story was pretty unique to anything i’ve read and my heart absolutely broke for him more than once. he is such a sweet, loving, touch-starved man. he is a great teacher and mentor for his students as well.

bennett is absolutely perfect for rory. i love how he behaves around him. i love how great a father he is and what a good friend he is to jessie. i think he might be my most favorite of all the characters in this series.

i have loved every book in this series and can’t wait to read more from JK!

Interview with Rory & Bennett
Q: Now that you’ve gotten together, what comes next?

A: Rory: That’s a good question, isn’t it? I mean, we’ve been through so much, but there is still a lot of upheaval in our lives, all we can really do is lean on each other…

Bennett: Yeah, I’m not close to my family, but Rory still hasn’t told his he’s gay. Which means I’ll probably eventually have a clan of angry Irish beating down my door. Plus, we’re helping to plan Jessie’s wedding and trying to help Addison deal with Sarah’s illness… and their feelings for each other. Basically we’ve got too much going on to focus on anything else besides enjoying each other when we can.

Q: What was the hardest thing for you to overcome that you didn’t expect to be an issue?

A: Bennett: laughs Rory is 6’4” and I’m 6’6”. The most unexpected problem with being in a relationship, is our lives physically barely let us fit together. Like, I need a bigger bed, a bigger couch, a bigger—

Rory: Shower?

Bennett: Yeah, that too.

Q: Who or what makes you laugh out loud?

A: Bennett & Rory: Addison.

Bennett: Teenagers, man. Endless entertainment.

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

A: Bennett: Green Tea

Rory: makes gagging noises Gross. Because of my Celiac disease, I have to be careful to make sure the ice cream is gluten free. Breyer’s GF butter pecan is one of the best I’ve found.

Q: What movie will you watch over and over again?

Bennett: snorts I’m not heavily into movies, so I tend to defer to Rory, which is always a mistake…

Rory: Let’s see… The Little Mermaid of course. Anything Disney, but my favorite is Tangled.
