“I am Josef Debrossé.” He had yet to release Paul’s hand—not that he had any complaints— and his blood warmed from touching a total stranger he’d paid to meet.

He let out a breathless chuckle, not surprised he’d been holding his breath.

“Paul Strait,” he replied, caught up in something…giddiness? Excitement? Sexual tension? He wasn’t sure, but he felt like a silly girl swooning on her first date. Almost as an afterthought, he added his signature tagline, “And I’m anything but.”

A rich resonant laughter danced around them, weaving a spell and capturing Paul inside it until he didn’t even know which way was up or down.

“C’est bon, Paul Strait,” he said, those hypnotic eyes sparkling.

When Josef released him, he had to resist the urge to take the man’s hand back and never let go, fearing he might disappear. Instead, he downed the rest of his champagne, scolding himself for being so ridiculous. He nodded toward the bar where plenty of stools sat open. “Can I buy you a drink?”

At the resort, everything was included, but it seemed like the most logical thing to say. Much classier than, “Are you wearing underwear?”

Author Interview:

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Deanna Wadsworth author of FINDING HIS FANTASY

Hi, Deanna, thank you for agreeing to this interview!

 

Q:  Tell us about your book.

A:  FINDING HIS FANTASY is my fourth 1Night Stand book with Decadent Publishing. If you aren’t familiar with the series from my publisher, it is about a mysterious matchmaking agency called 1Night Stand, where customers think they are getting a fantasy encounter, but they find love. My main hero Paul (the blond) is a 48 yr old that isn’t tired of his decadent lifestyle but longs for someone to share it with, a partner, lover and friend. He enlists 1Night Stand, books a fantasy encounter in the Caribbean and meets his date Josef, a gorgeous Haitian bar owner. Their attraction is immediate, but the harsh realities of their pasts threaten to ruin the romantic night and any chance at finding a happily ever after.

Q:  How difficult was it to get into the main character’s head?

A:  Not difficult at all! I always put a little bit of myself in my heroes but Paul was an exception. From his non-PC comments and refusal to settle down with 2.5 kids in suburbia to the devil-may-care way he masks his serious side are all be moves right out of my own playbook. He was one of the easiest characters I’ve ever written….hence why this is one of the longest 1Night Stand books I’ve ever written.

Q:  Is this book a standalone or do you plan on visiting it again?

A:  I am not particularly fond of writing sequels, but this is not the end of Paul and Josef. My partner in crime and literary cohort Wendy Burke and I have written a total of 10 1Night Stand books that are loosely connected (two are contracted but not published yet.) Josef originally appeared in Wendy’s book WISE MEN SAY, while Josef and his secluded no-holds-barred bar No Woman No Cry had a cameo in my book ACCIDENTALLY BEAUTIFUL. In our upcoming 1Night Stand stories, however, Josef and Paul will appear as a couple so readers can find out what happens to them. My book TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE and Wendy’s SAFE AT HOME are both currently in edits so be sure to stay tuned!

Q:  Why did you choose to write M/M stories?

A:  It was a fluke really. I read More by Slone Parker and really enjoyed it.

After I discovered the genre, I started writing m/m for the fun of it then an idea came to me about a sexy tattoo artist and a biker. I’m actually finally working on THAT book so stay tuned!

Then—as with all m/m fangirls—I quickly read nothing but m/m. The only het I read is written by critique partner Wendy Burke. I guess, I prefer telling stories about men. Plus readers like my male protagonists better than my female ones so it was a natural fit.

FINDING HIS FANTASY is my 13^th published m/m (not including works contracted but not released) but my 17^thbook. There are some ménage erotica in my backlist but the boys all play together too. I hate ménage where there is girl and two guys but the guys never even touch. It’s like, “Dude, you’re naked with another dude, just kiss him already!” LOL

Q:  Where do you find your inspiration?

A :  Anywhere and everywhere. I can’t put a finger on any one thing. I could see a fight on TV, hear a joke in a movie, have a friend casually mention a documentary they saw and my mind goes whirling. Life is inspiration!

Meet the author:

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. She has served multiple board positions at her local RWA chapter and with Rainbow Romance Writers of America.
