4 of 5 Stars
Sully and Marek were combustible together. He’s a prick, the stereotypical romance club prez – young, dark, violent, demanding, possessive, controlling, and hot. Why did I like him? He saved Sully, he made her feel safe, and he evolved. Still caveman, still alpha, but he found room in his heart for a broken girl – all while fighting a war and trying to take his club legit. And Sully, you had no choice but to root for her. Brutalized by the club Marek stole her from, Sully came out of her shell, showed immense strength, and fought for a new life.
This is not a safe, fade to black, read. The violence was expected, the rape…I could have done without the play by play and still felt the impact. How she responded to it was what was important to me. Sully = strength.
The pace of the book was good. Was I frustrated at times? Yes, Marek struggled with his feelings, wanting to maintain his emotional distance, and it hurt Sully. But, I was never bored, the characters remained interesting throughout the book. The secondary characters, Stone especially, added depth and filled in gaps.
If you enjoy MC books, with dark themes and a$$hole alphas, this is a must read. Note, there is a bit of a cliffy regarding the storyline of taking the club legit. Can’t wait for the next book…

Her passion to create was overwhelming, and within a few months she’d written her first novel, Stolen Fate. When she isn’t engrossed in creating one of the many stories rattling around inside her head, she loves to read and travel as much as she can.
