Synopsis:
Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…
The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase … he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.
I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my world broke apart.

5 of 5 Stars
This is not my first Alessandra Torre book. I try not to read too many blurbs or reviews prior to reading and I am so glad with this one. I love a good sport story and this one might be the best one. I say this, as a non Yankee fan. I am not a fan of the pinstripes, yet I got 100% behind this one.
Chase is the baseball bad boy. He is Full of promise, talent and bad decisions. Ty Rollins is the Yankees sweetheart, and the closers daughter. She has grown up with those boys and they love her and protect her as much as she loves and her team. Although both our attracted to each other, they start by attempting to become friends. I loved how these two fall in love. It was sweet and young and the imagery in their love was just flawlessly written. “I’d been falling in love. Wasn’t that how love felt? The connection that was impossible to fight? The unique tie between two souls that changed lives forever?” I mean, REALLY?!!!
This story! Gah! The angst, I expected, what I didn’t expect was the suspense. It was perfect in my opinion. However, the writing was superb!!!!
“Life is a serious of stupid decisions interrupted by luck”
There were so many flawlessly executed sentences that I couldn’t even! It was all amazing! But, at the heart of this story, the twist and turns, played with my emotions in the best way possible. I was cheering the whole way through, and trust me, I hate he Yankees. However, I believed in the magic of that organization. It was just presented in such a way that you couldn’t cheer for them.
The coming back together of Chase and Ty will bother a lot of people. I am not one of those people. It didn’t read like something thrown in there just for the heck if it. It just flowed. I believed in their destiny, and I was ok with its execution.
Would I recommend this book to a friend? Absolutely. Loved loved loved it.
