Gage and Tinker’s story was kind of different, to me, than the other books. The focus was more on the challenge Gage had winning Tinker’s broken, scarred heart and less on the club….less on club life. While there were touches of Reapers Painter, Horse, Picnic and Ruger, I wanted more. Selfishly.
The story, however, takes place in Hallies Falls and Gage is sent in to find out if another club, the Nighthawks, is betraying the Reapers. He is “undercover” and can’t tell Tinker who he really is. And, I don’t know that I really found that out. He’s a protector, the club is his family, he gets off a bit on fear, he goes for what he wants, he’s a manwhore, but besides a mention of his past, I don’t know him. Or maybe, that’s who he is, all he is, until he meets Tinker.
Tinker, I connected with her. I enjoyed how much she evolved, found her strength, took what she wanted. She was a joy to spend time with.
Overall, another great read. The secondary characters, especially CARRIE, were awesome. Weaving the fires through the story, escalating as the plot did, was masterful. The epilogue was epic as well.
The story ran concurrently with Painter’s story, Reaper’s Fall. I feel like a re-read of that book would have added more depth to this book. There were some moments where the timeline seemed off, but people it’s fiction, who cares?
I love that there is still more to tell…hopefully this will not be the last book.
