Release Day Blitz – The Summer Games: Out of Bounds by R.S. Grey

Title: The Summer Games: Out of Bounds
Author: R.S. Grey
Release Date: Aug 1, 2016
I despise Erik Winter.
He’s arrogant and cruel—a man I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy—and by some twisted turn of fate, he’s my new Olympic gymnastics coach.
I’ve had to contend with gruff coaches in the past, but Erik is far worse. His stern demeanor complements a body built for intimidation, and his reprimands come from a mouth so cunning, I know it could strip me of my defenses—if I let it.
Though each of us would love to be rid of the other forever, we are bound to each other by need and necessity. I’m his rising star, his best shot at proving himself to his critics. And without a coach, I have zero chance of winning gold in Rio.
The easiest way forward would be to wave a white flag and make peace with the man I’ll be sharing close quarters with for the foreseeable future, but he is intent on war.
Fine. By. Me.
If he pushes me, I’ll push back harder. If he wants to test me, to play with my head, I’ll show him just how many boundaries I’m willing to cross. Because I know it’s not a choice between winning or warring—not if you can have them both. At the end of it all, I plan on leaving Rio with gold around my neck and his icy heart in the palm of my hand.

4 of 5 Stars

RS Grey is no stranger to providing us with engaging sports romance for us to enjoy as we highly anticipate yet another major sports world milestone. This time, Grey delivers the angst filled forbidden romance between a coach and gymnast as we count down the days to the summer Olympics in Rio.

Brie is an elite gymnast with the world at her feet. However, the burden she feels to succeed might just take her under. It doesnt help that she has a new Olympic coach that is attractive and young. Ya’ll that’s all you get about these characters. I won’t ruin it. They, however, were written perfectly. I could envison and feel her determination to have success. However, the pressure she had to be the darling of the Olympics, was SOOOO well written, I seriously had to stop a couple of times and just take a deep breath for her.

Erik………..man! This man! I could so feel his grit to be more than his legacy. It was too much. his back story was compelling and full of the feels. I enjoyed reading the dichotomy of their different pressures, and how Brie was excelling where he had withdrawn. However, he was the right person to draw it out of her, because he DID know.

UGH! Both of them together!!! They were fire and ice. The push pull of their chemistry is definatly what kept me invested. Their chemistry was off the charts and I think this might be RS Grey’s best work, when it comes to their sexual tension. It was so well written, so raw and real. I don’t know. I felt it. I LOVED their back and forth. His arrogance, he stubborness and desire to just rile him.

I enjoyed the story and the fact that the Olympics is just around the corner helped with my enthusiasm in wanting to see how it all played out. I loved that there was a little interaction from the previous stories. I LOVE when authors throw that in there. However, this story just lacked something that I loved from the previous 2 stories. I dont know, if it’s the fact that the quirckiness that has always entertained me when reading this series was just not there. Soooooo, I wish I could have had that well mingled with the sexual angst found in this story, because it would have been a 6 star for sure.

That being said, I am committed to the series and I love all the characters. I wont lie, I’ll be thinking about all the craziness that takes place in the Olympic Village as I start watching the Olympics next week.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, it was super cute and I do love the author. It was def a cutesie romance for sure.
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things… everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
