3 NR Walker Audiobooks and a Weekend

I spent the weekend binge listening to 3 of Ms. Walker’s books.  I didn’t think I could love her writing more than I already did but boy was I wrong.  These vocal performers really made them so much better…

And you thought I was gushy with my reviews before 😊

Throwing Hearts

Performed by: Glen Lloyd
Series: Standalone
Genre: MM Romance

Synopsis

A fun and sexy romance where the kiln isn’t the only thing that’s scorching hot.
Leo Secombe loves his life, and he’s convinced himself he’s happy to be single. In his spare time, he keeps himself busy at a local LGBTQ centre that pairs a younger person with a community elder to help them feel included in today’s rainbow family. Leo and Clyde have been buddies for a few years now, and signing up for a pottery class seems like fun.
Merrick Bowman has been so focused on getting his pottery business up and running that he’s forgotten how to date. How to live, even. But when a young, bubbly Leo and an older, grumpy Clyde walk through his door, Merrick has no idea how much Leo is about to centre his world.

Throwing clay has been Merrick’s entire life, but Leo’s about to change all that. Maybe Merrick’s ready to throw caution to the wind. And maybe he’s ready to finally throw his heart on the line.

Here is my original review of the ebook I posted after I read it (scroll to the end for my comment regarding audio).

This is such a sweet, romantic, wonderfully angst-free read. I picked this up and read it in one sitting (as I usually tend to do with Ms. Walker’s books).

Leo and Merrick are adorable together as they fumble through meeting each other and then building their relationship. Their banter is endearing and brought a huge grin to my face while having just enough physical chemistry to add the perfect heat to their tale. I LOVE what Merrick does for a living and all the things he makes. The epilogue is so good…but I wouldn’t mind visiting them again for a quick look in the future 🙂

The side story with Merrick’s uncle Donny and the Bridge the Gap crew who all attend Merrick’s class is SUPERB! And Leo’s roommate Kell is outstanding as well.

I will read this again. If it is released on audio, I will listen to it. This is another example of why Ms. Walker is an auto-buy, must-read author for me.

And now it’s been released on audio…and I’ve listened to it.  And it was so great to listen to it on audio.  Glen Lloyd is SO GOOD.  I laughed out loud more than once (and yes I had a few strange looks thrown my way) and I was reminded just how much I loved this story.

Tic-Tac Mistletoe

Genre: MM Romance

Synopsis

Hamish Kenneally is moving from Australia to the US for a fresh start, beginning with Christmas at his sister’s place in Idaho. When a snowstorm diverts his plane to Montana and leaves him stranded two days before Christmas, he hires a car and drives right into a blizzard.

Ren Brooks has always called Hartbridge, Montana, and his family hardware store, home. After a few failed attempts at love, he’s resigned to being single forever—after all, no guy wants to stay in his sleepy little town for long. And after his dad’s passing earlier in the year, Ren’s Christmas is looking bleak. But when a car runs off the road in front of his property, Ren pulls the driver out and takes him home to get out of the cold.

With the storm and the holidays leaving Hamish with nowhere else to go, Ren kindly offers a place to stay. Hamish is certain he’s crashed right into a Hallmark Christmas movie, despite more car delays and road closures and the prospect of not seeing his sister for Christmas. And with help from Hamish, Ren is beginning to feel a little Christmas cheer.

These two unlikely strangers have more in common than they first realise, and after two days of Christmas decorations, cookies, and non-stop conversation, it looks like Christmas might be saved after all.

Here is my original review after reading the ebook on November 27, 2020.  I knew I’d want to hear it as soon as it was released on audio, regardless if it was this soon.  Glen Lloyd did a fabulous job performing this book.  Man his American accent is so good…I am IMPRESSED!

Wow…I loved this book and it was exactly what I needed right now. I read it in a day, which is typically the case with Ms. Walker’s books. This is a sweet, holiday romance that while tinged with moments of sadness and loneliness ultimately helped me remember the magic of the season.

I loved that Hamish had the courage to just up and move to the other side of the world when he no longer felt right at home. I adored how much he fell in love with Ren’s home since it meant so much to Ren. And even though the way they met was a little scary and could have been really bad, it was really kind of adorable. They were almost awkward around each other so I’m glad they were forced to quickly talk to each other about their feelings.

The last chapter and the epilogue got me right in the feels…as is usually the case with her books. I might have to read this one again before the season is over.

OMG! How have I waited so long to read/listen to this???  This is so freaking cute…and I guarantee you I could give Cameron a run for his money on fun socks.

I absolutely loved these two together.  At first, they seem like opposites, but they are not as different as they seem.  They have amazing sexual chemistry but also work well together and have adorable, entertaining banter between each other.  The premise of their forced proximity is not one I have read, and I appreciated that there wasn’t really animosity between them but an appreciation for each other being brilliant at their jobs.

Cameron shocked me with his announcement and the ending was a bit of a surprise for me as well.  It looks like there is going to be more to this series now as this is listed as book one…but I can’t find more information about book two.  Hopefully, that means we’ll see more soon!

As for the audio…Mr. Russo’s Texas accent was SPOT.ON. (I live outside Dallas, Texas.)  I was really impressed with his performance in this book.  He nailed the emotions and pulled me into the story.  Even the chapter titles were read with major feeling…absolutely superb!

After you read or listen to this book, the outtake/deleted scene is a MUST!  You can read that here.
