Hmmm…I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I’m not sure I would have finished if it wasn’t on audio. I’ve only read a couple of books by this author, so I don’t have much experience with her writing style.
Let me get the easy part out of the way. The vocal performances were good. I liked the voice of Tommaso a little more than the other, but they were both good.
I appreciated the slow burn and the building of their friendship and was ready for a great book. A lot was glossed over or happened off page, but I was there for it. Until the declarations happened off page, the author left so many things still on the table, and there was not much resolution or closure. Am I the only person who was completely disappointed in the ending…to the point that I rewound the book to make sure I hadn’t missed something? It felt like a whole chapter or the epilogue was missing.
The game at the end was truly brutal, the behaviour disgusting, and hard to listen to but then it was just over. I was shocked.
I was thinking I might need to go back and read book one to see if that’s how the first one ended…maybe it’s what she does? And then it’s all made clear later?
I’m really and truly disappointed with the story because of the last one-third (ish) of the book.
