Book Name: Turquoise

Author Name: Rain Carrington

Author Bio:

Rain Carrington started writing when she was just a teenager in Trinidad, Colorado but didn’t start writing M/M romance until much later. Through the years many of her gay male friends told stories of heartache and the struggle to find “the one” so she told them stories, fantasies all about them and their future cowboy, fireman, biker or policeman. When she found a writing site that encouraged her to write them down she started what was an adventure like she never had before.

Her first story, Cabin fever, about a young man searching for love and finding it wrapped in a member of a mafia family gained her readers who cheered for more. She knew then that she had found her place in the world. To make stories of love and kink that not only her readers but she could get lost in as well.

Rain now lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado but has traveled most of the US. Her last road trip to San Francisco gave her characters still coming out…no pun intended…in her newer stories. Rain has severe scoliosis which makes it hard for her to do all the things she used to love, but it did give her the time to write that she never had before. Scoliosis can have a direct impact on everyday activities, especially if the spinal area is causing pain. She told me that she’s been informed of many types of treatments, one of her friends from the Netherlands recommended “beste CBD olie” (cannabis oil) to help with the pain and inflammation. There are other widely available treatments out there from surgery to body braces. Rain herself is proof that Scoliosis doesn’t stop you from living your life and encourages others around her to understand the condition. To learn more about scoliosis and the range of treatments available, visit resources like the Scoliosis Institute (linked above). Despite the pain of her medical condition, she continues to fight for LGBT rights from her home as best she can now and keeps in close contact with her friends that fight on two good legs to point them where they should go. She is a fervent believer that one door never closes without another opening so there are no limits she can’t get past.

Of all the people in the world, no one has encouraged and supported her like her friends, many of them writers themselves, and her family. There is never a dull moment in her home where laughter is in the air 24/7 and everyone knows to avoid the computer screen when she sits in front of it. They never know what kind of beautiful man love they may see. Rain calls it research, they call it, “there she goes again!”

Author Interview:

Q: Who do you love to read?

A: James Patterson, Patricia Logan, Piper Kay, JP Kenwood, Max Vos, Heidi Cullinan, Sue Brown, oh God I could go on for days!
Q: Who in history would you like to have met?

A: Cleopatra, Elizabeth Bathory, H.H. Holmes, of course I might not live through the second two but hey, I would love to ask them why they were so sick! Um, James Dean, Clark Gable for old movie hunks. Geronimo, Isaac Newton, Plato, Julius Cesar! Wow, too many, I’d need Bill and Ted’s phone booth!
Q: Will technology save society or destroy it?

A: That depends on how people use it. It could save our planet if the right wing would let it. It could save lives, keep people safe and create lasting friendships. On the other hand it takes people from going out into the world to meet one another face to face and stops people caring about things that matter.

Excerpt:

It took a long time for Angel to catch his breath, but when he did, he ducked his head into Garcia’s hair. “Sorry. I got carried away, huh?”

Garcia turned and made Angel face him. “Don’t do that. It meant something. It meant everything.”

Angel searched Garcia’s face for humor and didn’t find a bit. “You felt that too?”

“Yeah. I…uh…I think we just got married?”

Angel rolled his eyes, chuckling, “Only you would see that as a marriage.”

Garcia pushed him down and narrowed his eyes in mock anger. “Tell me, smart ass, what did you see it as?”

Angel said, seriously, “Taking back what was mine all along.” He kissed Garcia’s bruising lips. “My eyes, my smile, my heart. Forever.”

Christina’s Review:

TurquoiseTurquoise by Rain Carrington

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

i absolutely loved this book so much, it was so well written and one of the most unique stories i’ve read…fair warning though, you’re heart will break more than once but thankfully it is put back together each time.

this is the first book by rain i’ve read and i cannot wait to read more.

i’m not going to recant the synopsis but i will touch on it a bit. angel and garcia are soul mates almost from birth, inseparable and totally in love (though they don’t realize this until they are older). angel feels restless living on the reservation and feels the need to leave to find himself. him leaving garcia was hard for both of them but in the long run, it was good for them to grow up and become better men from the experience. their love story is one for the ages but i don’t want to give too much away because you absolutely must read this book.

all of the secondary characters are so wonderful (except the bad guys who are REALLY bad). all of garcia and angel’s ‘brothers’ on the reservation just add to the heartwarming feeling you get when reading this story.

trust me when i tell you this is a MUST, MUST read. i cannot wait to read more of her stories!

Turquoise is certainly a winner! It catches you from the beginning, reels you in and then keeps you on the hook all the way until the end! You will laugh, you will cry, you will gasp and you will sigh with relief.

I have been an avid Rain Carrington follower from the beginning and each book just gets better and better! I was drawn in with the Honky Tonk series and have never stopped reading since! As long as Rain is a writer, this girl will be a reader!
