Blurb:
Branson Farrell lost his parents when he was thirteen, and for the last ten years his brother, Mac, eight years his senior, has taken care of him. But Mac’s love came at a price. Both brothers were raised to believe being gay was completely unacceptable, and Branson has almost convinced himself he can be what Mac expects. When he looks at a man in a bar and Mac notices, Mac drags him off in horror.
Mac’s distress and disgust leads to a car accident that leaves Branson injured and Mac in a coma. Branson heals and stays at Mac’s bedside, but when Mac doesn’t recover, he is moved to a long-term care facility. There, Branson meets openly gay, confident, and attractive Liam Sullivan. Liam stirs feelings Branson thought he’d rid himself of, and to honor his brother, Branson fights tooth and nail against his attraction. When the cost of denying who he is becomes too high, Branson must battle a lifetime of hatred that’s been beaten into his body and mind to try for something of his own.

About the author:
I’ve always loved to write and wrote fan fiction before I even knew what it was called. When computers came along, with online communities and places to publish fan fiction, I wrote even more. Then a friend convinced me to try to have an altered version of an AU (alternate universe, meaning all but original) published. My manuscript was accepted and now I’m a ‘published author’.
Q: Your bio lists that you like to draw and paint. Have you ever designed your own cover? Do you think you ever will? (I absolutely love the cover of ‘For Mac’)
A: I’ve designed some in that I’ve submitted sketches and said something like “Like this but better.” Haunted was like that, and Living Again. I only described For Mac, but Paul Richmond is fantastic about drawing almost exactly what I describe. I’m not sure I really have the right style to do book cover art. I wouldn’t say I’ll never try though. Who knows what the future will bring. If you’d like to see some samples of my artwork you can go here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/brynnh87/portfolio/recent
Q: Where did you get the idea for this story?
A: I’ve known people with Branson’s attitude and upbringing. One in particular ended very badly. While this story isn’t anything like that real person’s story, there is some of that person’s inspiration in the book, as well as a few other people who have had to fight to like who they are because of what I can only call conditioning they received growing up. The others have overcome, as Branson eventually does.
Q: Who is your favorite character you’ve ever written? Who has been the most challenging?
A: Ethan in Living Again was probably my favorite. He was certainly the most fun. He wasn’t one of the main characters, but he took over the book. He was Jonah’s four year old, precocious, handicapped son and he stole my heart.
Most challenging was probably Branson. It’s hard to write someone who’s that self-loathing and have it come across as realistic. He’s somewhat modeled on real people, so I know he’s realistic, but still. And it’s emotionally hard, writing a character who feels like that. Fortunately, he has a happy ending.
Q: What was the last 5-star book you read?
A: Healing Hunter’s Heart by Charlie Cochet
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Strawberry anything
