Reaching across the empty bed next to me, I rode out the last waves of my dream alone. I could still feel his phantom kiss on my lips and the sensation of a hand stroking along my thigh.

The rest of it was just a blur of emotions and sticky residue on my sheets—though I could guess at it without much effort. FatBoy Newman had been a specter haunting me at work so it was no great leap to assume he’d shouldered his way into my dreams as well.

Character Interview – Nick Valentine:

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Nick Valentine from 6 Days To Get Lucky. Hi LE, thank you for agreeing to this interview!

Q: What do you find attractive in a man?

A: That he’s single? Breathing? Under the age of fifty? Interested in me? Wait – is FatBoy around? I’m supposed to say him- right? Calm, shoulders out to there, clearest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Best heart. Yeah, all that. But before FatBoy, really – all you needed to catch my eye was that spark, you know?

Q: The first thing that went through your head when you saw Davis?

A: Hah. A total no-neck suit. He was always hanging around pestering me at the bar. It was months before I learned his name wasn’t ‘FatBoy’, by then it stuck. He was so irritating, getting into my business until suddenly he wasn’t. But that’s attraction for you. Sometimes you don’t even see what’s in front of your nose until it smacks you upside the head.

Q: Do you think you’ll insist the author visits you again?

A: I hope so – I’d love to see where this thing is headed.

Q: Before you met Davis—FatBoy, what was your ideal man?

A: Well a smoking body is always nice – long and lean with a great smile might get you an invitation to the back, but if you expect to stay you need a sense of humor and a lot going on up top.

Q: You’re going out for dinner. What’s your favorite food?

A: Chocolate chip pancakes – I work in a bar until 3am with one of the best chefs in the south feeding me every day… so after work all I’m craving is breakfast. And bacon. Plenty of bacon will make me a happy man.
