I am a fan of this series and had really high expectations for Tripp’s story but it did not live up to them. The story was ok, it just moved at lightning speed. He and Reece, a stripper at one of the club’s businesses, found instalove. Seriously, they see each other and are bit hard by the love bug. From there, it was cheesy teenage dialogue (they are not teenagers) and inner musings. He immediately makes her feel safe. She immediately moved in with him and drama after drama after drama happened. With them, with others, which impacted them. I didn’t get any depth, it was like their story skimmed the surface of the drama.

Because it moved so quickly, Reece, running from her past, repeatedly tried to convince the reader and herself Tripp was a good man. Why else would she jump in deep with him so quickly. He was a good man but his actions showed that. I got it without Reece telling me. Especially with the lengths he’d gone to, to keep her safe.

Too much time was spent on Prez Marek’s revenge and an unexpected consequence. It’s a thread throughout the series and finishes certain club business, but it felt like a whole other story, like a novella inside this book.

I liked Tripp with Reece. The moments spent with them were meaningful, but I would have liked more character development for Tripp and Reece. They definitely had chemistry and Tripp got his HEA.

I loved seeing the characters from other stories in the series pepper this book. But, it felt like thanksgiving dinner – so much is going on and you have to see all your relatives but don’t really spend a lot of quality time with any of them.

Overall, a good, spicy read, just not great. The cover, awesome.
